The CWB Group and the Canadian Welding Association (CWA) are working collectively together to assist clients and members who have been directly impacted due to the wildfire situation in Fort McMurray and surrounding area.
“The welding community is small but strong and will persevere,” said Doug Luciani, President and CEO of the CWB Group. “Our hearts and prayers go out to not only those in the welding industry but also to everyone impacted by this situation.”
To assist the welding community in Fort McMurray and surrounding areas, the CWB Group will be opening their doors of their Nisku, AB office to welding and inspection companies as well as CWA members, who need office facilities and services to manage their business.
The parking lot of the CWB Group’s Nisku office in Edmonton, AB is available for the storage of RVs and trucks owned by CWB clients and CWA members. The facilities and grounds are also available as a meeting place for regrouping of staff.
In addition, any pending testing sessions appointments, audits or other service appointments will be adjusted to allow clients and members the time needed to make alternative arrangements. Should rescheduling of any service with the CWB, please contact their National Call Centre at 1-800-844-6790 for assistance.
If CWA events are impacted by this situation, CWA National will be working to reschedule these as necessary by working with local CWA Chapters in Alberta. Updates will be available on their websites and social media channels.
“We’re here to assist our members, so please reach out to us,” said Dan Tadic, Executive Director of the CWA. “We’ll continue to provide as much support as we can and work with members who were impacted. We truly wish them the best during this surreal time of their lives. Welders are builders – and we will work with you alongside all Canadians to help rebuild whatever is lost.”
