Multi-axis laser cutting

Three axis laser cutting operates at speeds up to 800 ipm (0-20 m/min) in the X, Y and Z axes with a bidirectional accuracy of 0.0005 in. (12.7 micrometers).

A new three axis laser cutting system from Prima North America is capable of operating at speeds up to 800 ipm (0-20 m/min) in the X, Y and Z axes with a bidirectional accuracy of 0.0005 in. (12.7 micrometers).

The Laserdyne 430 is currently available with a 4th rotary/circular axis option; a 5th tilt axis will be available in 2011.

The bidirectional is throughout the system’s 600 x 400 x 500 mm work envelope, making it ideal for processing a broad range of components such as precision drilled fuel filters, electronic assemblies, and transition components at the highest rates with precision quality.

The laser cutting system features the company’s latest and most powerful system controller, the S94P. The system includes Laserdyne hardware and software features where required, with features such as BreakThrough Detection (BTD) and a patented Automatic Focus Control (AFC). Fabricators have used these features to laser process complex electronic, medical, and turbine engine components in far shorter cycle times with superior quality than other laser systems.

“The Laserdyne 430 is delivered as a turnkey system with a choice of industrial Nd:YAG, CO2 and fiber lasers,” says Terry L. VanderWert, president of Prima North America. “Wherever possible, we have leveraged proven technology from our Laserdyne BeamDirector systems and 30+ years experience in industrial laser processing to offer our customers systems with the highest performance and process reliability.”

All of Laserdyne’s lasers are designed, built and tested to ASME B 5 5.54 and ISO 230 standards.
