Mercedes introduces 525 HP ML 63 AMG SUV [VIDEO]

The 2012 edition of the German automaker’s luxury SUV uses 28 per cent less fuel than its predecessor.

STUTTGART, Ger.—The 2012 Mercedes ML 63 AMG has arrived.

This year’s incarnation of Mercedes luxury full-size SUV is powered by an AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine, pumping out 525 h.p. And although it’s massive engine may appear as the latest gas-guzzling sport vehicle, the 2012 edition actually cuts fuel consumption by 28 per cent, using 11.8 litres of gas per 100 kilometres.

And if 525 h.p. isn’t enough, an optional AMG Performance package boosts power output to 557 h.p.

Power is transmitted to all four permanently driven wheels by the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC, which features three modes and an automatic double-declutching function for downshifting in a seven-speed automatic transmission.
